Final Consultation on Conway Park improvement scheme

Dear Neighbour,

As you know, the Friends of Conway Park are a small group of local volunteers with an interest in improving Conway Park and the adjoining Sharoe Brook valley area, so that the facilities can be enjoyed by the wider public.

We are liaising with Preston City Council and Lancashire County Council in order to put some plans together and once approved, we will then try to jointly raise funds in order to put them in place.

We hope that our attempts over the last 2 years to raise awareness, means that you have seen a copy of the initial concept plan that the landscape architects at Preston City Council did for us in early 2016.  We took this out to various locations in March last year for feedback, as part of the Consultation Process and the architects have now revised the plans according to the feedback that was received.

We now have in our possession the DRAFT MASTERPLAN for Conway Park.

We all now have a FINAL opportunity to say what we like (or don’t like) about these plans.  We would like to ask that you take the time to view the plans at one of the locations listed below and complete a survey questionnaire.  Your feedback will be documented and used, both to make sure that the plans suit as many residents as possible, but also as a means to secure funding to do the improvements.  Even if you are perfectly happy with the plans, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell us.  It’ll only take a few moments of your time, but will show the various authorities/funding bodies that we have community support for the project – a vital ingredient to obtain grant funding.

You can view the plans in the following locations:

  • Our website www.friendsofconwaypark.co.uk (available soon)
  • Thur 11 May   6pm-7.30pm   Conway Park Pavillion
  • Sun 14 May   11.30am-2pm   St Martins, Broadway
  • Sat 20 May   11am-1pm   Conway Drive shops
  • Mon 22 May   6.30pm-     Conway Park Pavillion
  • Sat 3 June   10.30am-     Conway Park Pavillion

In addition, some of our committee members will be attending various local groups (brownies, playgroups, etc) to seek feedback.  If you are involved with any groups from whom you think feedback is important, please get in touch so that we can arrange a date/time to attend with the plans.

You can complete the survey questionnaire online on our website or else fill out a paper copy at the various locations.  Please hand back completed surveys to a Friends Committee Member.  You can also post them at 23 Conway Drive.

We are always looking for volunteers to help.  In particular, we require people to help ‘man’ the various stations above during the consultation period, as well as help to distribute questionnaires to the houses immediately adjoining the park, from Stour Lodge to Hillcroft.  If you are able to help out in this, please let us know.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope you’ll endeavour to support us.   From The Friends
