The Great Get Together – Sat 15th June
The Great Get Together – Saturday 15th June
10.30am Balsam Bash
Join us for our annual Battle against the Balsam. Over the last 4 years, we have made great strides to rid Conway Park and the Sharoe Brook Valley of this invasive plant species. This year, with your help we plan to tackle the north side of the park in particular, where the brambles have been cut down in readiness. Many hands make light work!! Meet at the Pavilion on Conway Park at 10.30am. (Sturdy footwear/long trousers/long sleeves recommended. Gloves will be provided/or bring your own)
12.30pm Community Picnic
After building up an appetite from the morning activities, some light refreshments and food will be in order. Pack a picnic, invite family, friends and neighbours and let’s all get together and have a bit of a community chit chat! In this day and age, it’s all too easy to stay at home or on the internet and forget about being neighbourly. Whether you join us for 20 mins with a quick cheese sandwich or you spend a few leisurely hours sprawled out on the grass, we’ll be glad to see you. (sorry, no BBQ’s)
The Pavilion Café and toilets will be open and selling some refreshments/light snacks (eg tea, coffee, juice, crisps). You are welcome to leave your picnic here whilst doing the balsam bashing
INSPIRED BY JO COX
The Great Get Together is inspired by Jo Cox (MP), who was killed on 16 June 2016.
The Jo Cox Foundation believe there is a groundswell of people who reject divisive politics and simply want to bring communities together and celebrate all that unites us. Taking that message as inspiration, communities up and down the country will be getting together, three years on, to celebrate kindness, respect and all we have in common.
